Amazon runs on a smart fridge that will know what you’re eating

As reported Business Insider, Amazon is working on a smart cooler that will be able to track your shopping habits, predict your food preferences and give you nutritional advice.

The new refrigerator – known internally as Projeto Pulso – uses part of the computer vision technology which is currently used in Amazon boxless stores.

By using auto scan, the smart fridge will be able to keep food stock and notify when a product has expired, and also will assess when certain items are low so you can reorder.

The company is in talks with several consumer electronics brands with which it could partner to manufacture the refrigerators.

While there is currently no estimated price or release date planned for Project Pulse, unnamed sources told Insider that the price is expected to be “high”, given the relative complexity of the hardware involved.
