Amazon Reports 95 Percent Increase in 2024 Annual Earnings Under Andy Jassy

Amazon has announced net benefits of $59,248 million in 2024, which represents a 95% increase compared to the previous year. The company, led by Andy Jassy, has reported accumulated net sales of $637,959 million, 11% higher than those of 2023, with growth in its main segments, especially in the smart cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

According to Andy Jassy, “The Christmas shopping season was the most successful so far for Amazon, and we appreciated the support of our customers, commercial partners, and employees who helped to make it.” He also mentioned that “when we look back at this quarter in several years, I suspect that what we will remember most is the remarkable innovation delivered in all our businesses, none more than in AWS, where we presented our new chip of the Trainium2, our own base models at Amazon Nova, a lot of new models and characteristics in Amazon Bedrock that provide customers flexibility and cost savings.”

In terms of segments, the bulk of Amazon’s income in 2024 remained in North America, with $387,497 million, a 10% increase, followed by the international business with $142,906 million, a 9% increase, and AWS with $107,556 million, an 18% increase.

Regarding the fourth quarter, Amazon reported a benefit of $20,004 million, an 88% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, and net sales of $187,792 million, a 10% increase. In this period, the income from the North America segment reached $9.3 billion, the international business added $1.3 billion, and AWS revenues reached $10.6 billion, compared to $7.2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023.

For the first quarter of 2025, the company expects net sales to be between $151,000 and $155,500 million, or a growth of 5% to 9% compared to the same period of 2024, while operational income is expected to be between $14,000 and $18,000 million, compared to $15.3 billion in the first quarter of 2024.
