Amazon looks to TikTok for the app’s new feed

TikTok is the protagonist of the moment. An increasing number of companies want to resemble this social network. Amazon will be the next company to follow this path. The e-commerce giant has joined a list of companies that have had the same idea: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest…

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, The company is testing a new function in its app that includes short videos of the products that are sold on its website. To do this, it mimics TikTok’s vertical interface as much as possible. Much of the success of TikTok is that it attracts the attention of users and because of its powerful recommendation algorithm. Now, Amazon wants to use that addictive formula to boost purchases in its electronic commerce.

How to access?

This innovation is called inspire. For now, it will only be available to Amazon employees. To access, you have to touch the diamond-shaped icon on the home page of the American company. Posts will be viewable in the feed, which will include links to purchase any items featured in the post. This way, customers will be able to like, save and share product posts, and purchase items directly from the feed.

Please note that this is only an internal test. For this reason, it is not certain that it will be launched on a large scale for the rest of the platform’s users.

Amazon has already imitated the main social networks

The company usually looks at the tactics used by the main social applications to apply them on its website. It even has Posts, a copycat Instagram feature, as part of its advertising tools. In addition, it has invested in influencer marketing and live shopping, a feature that Facebook will soon focus on.
