Football works in funny ways. Just when you think the transfer window is quiet, a club makes a bold move. That’s exactly what happened with Alverca this season. They brought in Lincoln, a sharp offensive midfielder, right before the deadline. His arrival signals the club’s serious intentions. He’s one of their main weapons for the new season, and he’s ready to deliver.
Lincoln, 26, is a Brazilian player with a clear view of Alverca’s direction. “Alverca has a very ambitious project,” he shared. “We’re talking about a team that hasn’t been in the First Division for many years. Now, they’re showing they don’t just want to pass through. The team has looked good in games. It’s only a matter of time until things go exactly how we want.” He pointed to the astonishing fact of “more than 30 new players in one window.” He even wondered if that had ever happened in the country before. “It truly shows this project’s ambition,” he added. “Our main goal for this season is to stay up. From there, we’ll build something much stronger.”
Lincoln’s journey before Alverca took him to several places. He left Santa Clara in 2021/2022. Then he played for Fenerbahçe, Red Bull Bragantino, and Hull City. He explained why he chose to return to football here. “It’s what I said before,” he stated. “This ambitious project heavily influenced my decision. Alverca is a historic club. Their idea of creating a strong First Division team made them very attractive.” He also mentioned the personal side of things. “Of course, I’m returning to a country where I was very happy in my career. This time, I’m also closer to the capital city.”
Despite all this ambition, Lincoln stressed the need for careful steps. This is especially true because the squad is quite young. “As I mentioned, the focus is staying in the league,” he confirmed. “We plan to take this young team and secure our spot in the First Division. We have a good team and a solid setup. I truly believe we will achieve our goal.” He knows football isn’t easy. “Nothing in football is simple,” he said. “But I think we’ve been working hard. That effort will ensure we have a good season.”
