Álvaro Rubio Takes Helm at Real Valladolid Amid Critical Situation

After the dismissal of Diego Cocca and the confirmation of Álvaro Rubio’s return to the bench of Real Valladolid’s first team until the end of the season, the new Blanquivioleta coach spoke for the first time at a press conference. Rubio expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m super excited, very happy to be here from within.” He’s determined to make a positive impact, adding, “I will try to do better than what’s been demonstrated so far.”

The situation at Real Valladolid is indeed critical, but Rubio emphasized that it’s not impossible to turn things around. He acknowledged that this is a time to focus on the mental aspect of the game, saying, “The tactical aspect isn’t as important right now; we need to convince the players of the game plan and make them feel comfortable with what we’re going to do.” Rubio is focused on achieving a balance, refusing to give up on the attack or any other aspect of the game. Despite the recent resignation of CEO Matt Fenaert, he believes the club looks solid from within, but understands that the fans are tense due to the current situation.

Rubio’s Perspective on the Current Situation

“The situation is a suffering, a love and not power, and it’s normal for the fans to be tense,” Rubio explained. This sentiment encapsulates the emotional state of the team and its supporters. As he prepares for the upcoming game against Athletic, Rubio is aware that it’s not the most ideal opponent to start with, but he’s not dwelling on regrets. Instead, he’s looking to win the game, and in principle, Raúl Moro and Javi Sánchez will be available, with the possibility of playing minutes. However, the team will have to contend with the absences of Anuar and Amallah, who received their fifth yellow card of the season in the previous game against Sevilla.
