Altice Portugal makes an important ecological decision

In a statement, the owner of MEO, Altice Portugal, claims to have made an important ecological decision. The company signed the Porto Climate Pact, thus complying with one of its strategic pillars: sustainability.

“Altice Portugal believes that cities, through the experience of their inhabitants, the participation of companies and organizations and the action of local municipalities, are the main protagonists of the transition towards a carbon neutral economy”, it can be read.

Porto wants to anticipate carbon neutrality by 2030

Porto’s goal is to anticipate carbon neutrality by 2030. And Altice Portugal, a leading company in the telecommunications market, is now fully collaborating for this goal.

This agreement was signed by the Executive President of Altice Portugal, Alexandre Fonsesa. This reaffirms the company’s commitment to protecting the environment for a decarbonized future by 2050.

Altice Portugal also reveals that it has incorporated, in this context, a series of initiatives:

  • The ISO14001:2015 international certification (Environmental Management Systems) is present in all business areas;
  • Adherence to the “Business Ambition for 1.5oC” in a contribution to COP26 and in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement;
  • Adherence to the first edition of the Climate Ambition Accelerator, the United Nations Global Compact program that supports companies around the world in defining policies towards zero emissions;
  • The signing of Act4Nature in the field of biodiversity conservation

It is promised that Altice Portugal will “make its knowledge available by contributing to local and national objectives” and “will define a favorable context for decarbonization, also contributing to raising public awareness on the subject”.
