“We haven’t thought about that yet, it’s a bit early. In Silverstone we will probably talk about it”, declared the Romanian before ‘motor sport‘ in the Miami GP post when asked about Alpine’s future line-up. “We want to be fighting for wins in 100 races,” adds Szafnauer in an interview.

Thus, he speaks of 4-5 years counting the present course. And for that period it would be necessary to see who is still in Alpine: Alonso, with a contract until 2023; Ocon, 2024. Although the press has put Oscar Piastri and placing him among the candidates to have a position in the Alpine in 2023.

Szafnauer doesn’t hesitate to praise Spaniard Fernando Alonso when asked about him: “He’s at the top, among the best I’ve ever worked with,” Szafnauer says without hesitation. “He is very, very quick at learning tracks, giving good feedback and adapting to different scenarios or situations on the tarmac.”
“And he’s also an amazing competitor, like some of the others I’ve worked with. He wants all the performance we can get out of the car and out of himself, and that’s just because if you do those things, you have a better chance on the track. He is very similar to Sebastian Vettel”, he added.
