The Senator from Ávila Alicia García will be the new speaker of the Popular Party in the Upper House, following the changes introduced by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and Miguel Tellado will be the new spokesman of the “Popular Party” in Congress and Carmen Fúnez will be the new deputy secretary of the organization.

PP sources reported these changes, which will be approved by the National Executive Committee next Thursday. García was a city councilor in Ávila, advisor on family and equal opportunities in the Junta de Castilla y León, deputy in Congress and, since the last elections, senator.

“He is therefore knowledgeable about local, regional and national politics, which gives him ample parliamentary experience to lead the popular group in an upper house where the PP has an absolute majority,” the PP stressed. “He also has the best profile to stop some of Pedro Sánchez’s legislative excesses,” they stressed.

In addition, the current general coordinator of the PP, Elias Bendodo, will be the new deputy secretary for regional and local politics and electoral analysis. He will thus assume the functions of deputy secretary previously headed by Pedro Rollán (now President of the Senate), and in addition to the areas of analysis and strategic planning that directly depended on it, the areas of electoral developments and trends will be managed by him.

Feijóo thus groups the territorial secretaries of two departments around Bendodo, emphasized the above-mentioned PP sources, ensuring that his position “will have a fundamental importance in the organizational chart of the party, since he will combine the policies developed from the national headquarters with those carried out by “ “will coordinate the various autonomous communities at the time of the greatest institutional presence of training.”

In this sense, the PP recalled that it presides over 11 autonomous communities, the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, exercises the vice-presidency of the Canary Islands (all representing 70 percent of the population), leads the FEMP and governs 40 percent of the city councils throughout Spain.

In this way, the position of general coordinator will be eliminated “in line with the needs of an opposition party,” explained the above-mentioned PP sources, recalling that in this legislative period Feijóo himself will exercise his function from the Congress of Deputies. , when he was in the previous senator.
