Algeciras saves a point against Linares in a match without many chances

Goalless draw at the Nuevo Mirador in a duel that had two very different parts. Algeciras and Linares were unable to take a step forward in the first half, which was very close. However, in the second the demands increased a lot. The first to generate danger was Ania’s team through Leiva, but it didn’t last long, since Alberto González’s men would take the lead until the end of the match. Carracedo, Carnicer and Etxaniz were able to put their team ahead on several occasions, but sometimes the lack of aim, the intervention of Pol Tristán or the sticks prevented the scoreboard from moving.

Weak first part of the game. Neither team took a step forward. and it was all tentative. Just some timid approaches on both sides, but without too much danger. The minutes passed and only that, there was no action. Maybe they were blocked and maybe they were afraid to take a false step and that would put the rest of the game uphill. Be that as it may, the reality is that neither Algeciras nor Linares made a difference in the first 45 minutes.

Bad news for Ania’s team came in the 20th minute, when Álex Robles suffered a blow and, after being treated by the club’s doctors, he finally had to be replaced by Almenara. Just a couple of minutes later, when the game had already resumed, Admonio took a blow to the head after disputing an aerial ball with Romero. Finally, everything was left in a scare since the worst was feared due to the way the player fell to the ground.

In minute 33 appeared Renato to venture in front of goal, but the ball came out safely. And a short time later, Álvaro Romero asked for a penalty after a fall inside the area, but the referee considered that there was nothing in that action. Of course, on the verge of the break the Sevillian had the only chance of the match after hunting a ball from the left wing, but Ernesto took out a great hand to clear the ball. There was no luck and the game went to rest with the score 0-0.

The second part started with another face. The game was still even, but now there was more action and arrivals at both goals. A more direct game was played by both sides. Leiva had the first chance after getting a rebound from Josema inside the area.

Linares’ response came in the 55th minute. A great cross from Carracedo that ended in a header from Carnicer that hit the post caused chaos in the Algeciras defense. And almost immediately Etxaniz had another great opportunity after a ball from Carnicer. Shortly after Etxaniz appeared again to finish off with a header, but the ball went straight into Pol’s hands. There was no way to score, but Linares kept trying in a great team rush. In the 75th minute, Hugo Díaz sent the ball high.

For its part, Algeciras did not generate clear scoring chances, it was deflating with the passing of the minutes and it was getting more and more difficult for him to reach the goal defended by Ernesto. In addition, the great defense of Linares made Ania’s team completely disjointed. There was no way to create danger to them. Alberto González’s men had no aim, but they did enjoy many chances, which the Campo de Gibraltar team lacked.

For Algeciras the point is also good given the match that was found but the draw knew little for Linares. Those of Ania are fifth waiting for the end of the day and everything suggests that they will fall from the promotion playoff zone.
