Caracas.- Moscow’s city court on Friday sentenced Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny to 19 years in prison on charges of extremism.

Navalny was found guilty of the crimes of creating an extremist organization (the Anti-Corruption Fund), making extremist public calls, creating a non-profit organization that violates citizens’ rights, funding extremism and engaging minors in life-threatening actions to involve TASS.
Initially, the public prosecutor’s office had demanded a prison sentence of 20 years for Navalny.
In March last year, Navalny was sentenced to nine years in a penal colony and a fine of 1.2 million rubles (about $11,500) for fraud and contempt of court.
