Alberto Contador’s challenge: from Pinto to Milan by bicycle

What started out as a wild promise ended in a beautiful cycling challenge with Alberto counter as a great protagonist. The Madrid ex-cyclist kept his word after Lorenzo Fortunato gave the team he coaches with Ivan Basso, the Eolo-Kometa, its first stage victory on a grand tour.

And it was neither more nor less than one mythical peak like Zoncolan, in the last Giro d’Italia, where the promising Italian runner shone alone against runners of the stature of Egan Bernal, ultimately the winner of the race. That caused the ecstasy of his boss, who through a video that went viral in a matter of minutes on social networks and the media showed his overwhelming joy.

But after the celebration it was time to fulfill the promise. And boy did Contador do it. Together with the company of the ‘Super Grupeta’, his fatigue partners in training, and famous personalities of cycling and sports who joined the challenge in different stages (such as Ángel Vicioso, Joaquim Rodríguez, José Antonio hermida or Aleix Espargaró), the Madrilenian was able to cover by bicycle the more than 1,600 kilometers that separate Pinto, his hometown, from Milan in six days. “An incredible experience”, the pinteño summed up on his social networks. At the same time unforgettable.
