What started out as a wild promise ended in a beautiful cycling challenge with Alberto counter as a great protagonist. The Madrid ex-cyclist kept his word after Lorenzo Fortunato gave the team he coaches with Ivan Basso, the Eolo-Kometa, its first stage victory on a grand tour.
And it was neither more nor less than one mythical peak like Zoncolan, in the last Giro d’Italia, where the promising Italian runner shone alone against runners of the stature of Egan Bernal, ultimately the winner of the race.
