Albert Pujols will be “global ambassador” of Baseball United, the league of the United Arab Emirates

Baseball United, the first professional baseball league focused on the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, announced Tuesday that former Dominican baseball player Albert Pujols has been named as the organization’s official global ambassador.

According to a statement, Pujols will help promote the new league, its franchises and events through Baseball United campaigns and his personal social platforms.

Pujols will also join Baseball United executives at various government meetings and community activities within the Middle East.

“I am very honored to partner with Baseball United to help bring professional baseball to the Middle East and South Asia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow the game we love in a way no one has ever done before…I can’t wait to get to Dubai,” said Pujols.

Likewise, Kash Shaikh, the president and co-owner of Baseball United, highlighted Pujols as a player who has served as a role model for many people on and off the field, ensuring that “there is no better person” for the position he will play.

“He is one of the game’s greatest ambassadors, playing the right way, leading with honor and integrity, and teaching with passion and humility. There is no better person to team up with our current group of baseball legends as we collectively work to grow the game,” Shaikh said.

In addition to his role as global ambassador, Pujols will serve as an executive advisor to Shaikh, sharing his input and expertise on topics such as baseball operations, in-game innovation and global development.

FUTURE HALL OF FAME

Pujols played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball, winning three MVP awards, two World Series championships and a batting title.

He is the second player of all time with the most RBIs and the most total bases, and the fourth with the most home runs, having played with the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers.
