Al Horford scores 9 points, grabs 7 rebounds and gives 5 assists in Boston win

Dennis Schroder scored the most points of the season with 38 – eight in overtime – and the Boston Celtics took advantage of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 122-113 this Friday.

Jayson Tatum had 27 points with 11 rebounds for Boston, which won four of five games after starting the season 2-5.

Jrue Holiday had 17 points and 13 assists, and Bobby Portis had 22 for the Bucks, the defending NBA champions. Grayson Allen scored 21, hitting a pair of 3s in the final 73 seconds of regular time to send the game into overtime.

Robert Williams III had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Marcus Smart finished 12 of 19 points in the third quarter as the Celtics converted a four-point deficit into a seven-point lead.

Antetokounmpo, the NBA Finals MVP, was ruled out 90 minutes before kickoff with a right ankle injury. Pat Connaughton, a native of Arlington, Massachusetts, started in his place and scored 15 points in the loss of the Bucks, who lost for the sixth time in their last nine games.



HOUSTON – Damian Lillard scored 20 points, CJ McCollum added 17 and the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Houston Rockets 104-92 on Friday night for their first road win of the season.

Portland is 1-6 on the road and 5-1 at home. The Rockets are the only NBA team that hasn’t won on someone else’s court this season, and they are 0-7.

Houston is the worst team in the league, going 1-11.

Portland had the advantage for much of the game, taking an even 17-point lead. Houston approached seven with less than two minutes remaining on a triple by Kevin Porter Jr., before the Blazers took off.

Porter led the Rockets with 18 points, Jae’Sean Tate had 14 and Christian Wood added eight, also grabbing 15 rebounds.

Lillard made six of 16 shots from the field, including four of nine triples. He added seven assists and five rebounds.

Jusuf Nurkic totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds, hitting his 10 free throws.
