The wait is finally over for fans of Akshay Kumar’s blockbuster film “Kesari”. The actor took to social media to announce that the sequel, “Kesari 2”, will hit theaters on April 18. The film, which also stars R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday, is a follow-up to Kumar’s 2019 hit “Kesari”.
Kumar made the announcement on the social media platform “X”, revealing that the teaser for “Kesari 2” will be released on March 24. The post read, “Get ready for the teaser of Kesari 2, coming this Monday. The film will release in theaters on April 18.”
The Story of Kesari 2
The film is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, and Anand Tiwari and Amritpal Singh Bindra’s production banner. According to media reports, “Kesari 2” will tell the poignant story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The original film “Kesari” was based on the Battle of Saragarhi and was directed by Anurag Singh.
Will Kesari 2 Face Off Against Jatt and Sikander?
The film is based on the book “The Case That Shook the Empire” by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Raghu Palat is the great-grandson of C. Sankaran Nair. The film was initially scheduled to release on March 14, 2025, but was postponed. Now, it will be released a month later. If Salman Khan’s “Sikander” and Sunny Deol’s “Jatt” (releasing on April 10) continue to perform well, “Kesari 2” might face some competition, especially since Akshay Kumar’s previous films have not done well at the box office.
