Akshay Kumar’s Frustration with Sarfira Director Sudha Kongara: What’s Behind the Controversy?

Akshay Kumar’s Film "Sarfira" to Release This Friday

The official Hindi remake of the National Award-winning Tamil film "Soorarai Pottru" is set to hit theaters this Friday, starring Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.

Sudha Kongara Opens Up on Directing Akshay Kumar

Director Sudha Kongara, who also directed the original film, revealed that she had a unique experience directing Akshay Kumar in the remake. According to Kongara, Akshay got upset with her within the first six days of shooting, but the understanding between the two improved over time.

Akshay’s Initial Disappointment

In an interview, Kongara said that she had worked with Tamil star Surya for 25 years, making it easier to guide him. However, she was working with Akshay Kumar for the first time. "First of all, he is ‘Sir’ and it was the first time I met him. And I have no filter, so I was doing things the same way," she said. Akshay felt frustrated for the first six days, saying "what nonsense is this girl making me do." After speaking with the producer, Kongara realized that she needed to give Akshay more freedom to interpret the character.

Improving the Relationship

Kongara explained that she had created a perfect image of the leading character in her mind and felt that no one could do it better than Surya. However, she soon realized that she was suffocating the actor. "After 6 days, I showed him a cut of a particular scene, and the next day he came and told me, ‘I have a way of performing. I have my way of doing things and there is a process, but this is the first time I am trying to understand what is going on in your mind. I will try to give you this freedom.’ I said ‘very good, I liked it.’"
