The fourth match of the five-match T20 series between India and Australia was played in Raipur. This game proved to be crucial for the series. Team India won here and took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series. Spinner Akshar Patel played the most important role in the Indian team winning this match and series. He took three wickets by making just 16 runs in four overs. Due to this strong bowling, Akshar was adjudged the Player of the Match. After the game, he talked about how he trapped the Australian batsmen in his spin.
Akshar said, “I have been bowling well since the first game.” In such a situation, if too many runs are scored in one or two overs, I don’t stress. Today I was just thinking about how to bowl with my strength. Even if you score a lot of runs in a match (previous match), you should still bowl with your power. That’s what I did. I stayed mentally strong and bowled shot after shot. Wade is a left-handed batsman, but I continued to bowl aggressively against him. I implemented my strategy. I wasn’t at all afraid that he would give me a big blow to the balls.
Akshar said, “You can’t get wickets in just one way.” I thought the same thing during the break. A small change makes a difference. Only when you try these changes in the game will you know whether it works or not.
Team India, which came first in Raipur T20, scored 174 runs by losing 9 wickets, in return, Australia could only score 154 runs by losing 7 wickets in the stipulated overs. Apart from Matthew Wade (36) and Trevid Head (31), no other Australian batsman was able to stay on the field for long.
