An Emirates airline plane performed a frightening feat on July 1. The Airbus A380, which linked Dubai to Brisbane (Australia), made its 14 hour flight with a gaping hole in the cabin, reports CNN.
According to the first elements, it is the explosion of a tire of the device which would have caused the hole. The detonation, which occurred within the first 45 minutes of the flight, was heard by the passengers. “It was terrifying”, recalls one of them, questioned by CNN. ” [L’équipage] immediately contacted the pilots in the cockpit. Everything quickly returned to normal. Their calm demeanor was reassuring, they knew it wasn’t catastrophic. »
The fuselage completely replaced
The Airbus finally landed safely in Brisbane, on time and with all its passengers safe and sound. In a statement, Emirates said the explosion did not impact “the fuselage, frame or structure of the aircraft”, which was therefore able to continue on its way.
The device has since been repaired. “The fairing has been completely replaced, checked and validated by the engineers, Airbus and all the competent authorities”, assures Emirates in its press release.
