Airbnb launches technology to report parties in Portugal

The Airbnb platform announced today the launch of state-of-the-art technology to monitor reservations in Portugal and combat one of the current scourges. The new technology aims to reduce the risk of disruptive parties and curb unwanted behavior.

As the platform itself progresses, the initiative follows a recent global pilot of this technology, which saw a reduction in party complaints. That is, in view of a successful localized implementation, we now have its generalization and availability in Portugal.

Airbnb relies on new party reporting technology on the platform

Through this new technology to identify possible reserves with risk potential, the objective is to prevent. Also, as a last resort, avoid – holding unauthorized parties in the accommodations.

The technology analyzes factors related to the guest’s account and reservation that may indicate an increased risk of these types of incidents.

It is important to note here that these factors include such things as guest ratings, length of trip, distance to listing. They also consider whether the reservation is on a weekend or during the week, among other considerations.

The testing phase was a success with a 55% decrease in unwanted parties

The implementation of this technology in Portugal follows the party ban introduced last year. Thus, after the success of the test, the platform expands the availability of this function.

In fact, in a recent global pilot of the new reservation monitoring technology, Airbnb saw a reduction in complaints from parties where the pilot was in place.

More specifically, since Airbnb implemented anti-partisan measures in August 2020, rthere was a global drop of 55% in complaints about parties on the platform in two years. Now, through measures like booking tracking, Airbnb hopes to build on this success.
