Air Antilles Express planes suspended from flights by security

Due to security breaches noted during an inspection, the fleet of the regional company Air Antilles Express was grounded, we learned Monday from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

“If there is a suspicion of a direct impact on the ability to carry passengers, there is an immediate suspension” of the air operator’s certificate, explained the DGAC. With a fleet of 11 aircraft (ATR-42, ATR-72, DHC-6 Twin Otter), Air Antilles Express is a subsidiary of the Interregional Express Airline (Cairo), based in Guyana.

It serves the islands of the French Antilles, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Guyana and Miami. “There are already discussions between Osac and Cairo” for the return in flight authorization which will be granted “as soon as the corrective actions have been taken”, according to the DGAC.
