Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi of the United Arab Emirates elected President of Interpol

UAE Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi has been elected the new President of the International Police Agency (Interpol).

According to Al-Arabiya.net, in a meeting held in Turkey on Thursday, representatives of 140 member countries of Interpol elected Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi as the new president of the agency. He got 68.9% votes.

Maj. Gen. Ahmed Nasir al-Raisi is currently serving as Inspector General in the UAE Ministry of Interior. He will complete his four-year term at the agency’s headquarters in Lyon, France.

She is the first candidate from the Middle East to be elected president of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Interpol was established in September 1923. Through this, criminals from member countries can be arrested and brought to justice.
