The traditional recipe for Florida Water includes a combination of citrus essences such as bergamot, lemon, and orange, mixed with aromatic herbs such as lavender and rosemary. In addition, flowers such as orange blossom and other secret botanical essences are added, which vary depending on the manufacturer.

To prepare it at home, you need the following ingredients:

* Perfumery alcohol or 96° denatured alcohol (as a preservative base).
* Distilled water (recommended), or regular boiled water.
* Essences of bergamot, lemon, and orange (they can be essential oils or extracts) or peels of 3 citrus fruits.
* Aromatic herbs such as lavender and rosemary (can be dried or fresh).
* Orange blossoms or other aromatic flowers (optional).
* 2 species: 2 cinnamon sticks and 15 cloves.

The jar must have approximately the following proportions: 45% peels, 10% spices, and 45% herbs. It is then covered with 50% 96° alcohol and the other 50% water, or with 100% hot water or a milder alcohol.

Preparation involves carefully mixing these ingredients in the proper proportion and letting the mixture rest for at least 2 weeks so that the aromas are fully integrated. Shake every other day. Filter and bottle.

If applied to the skin, since it contains alcohol it can be a little drying, so it is advisable to add a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin to the mixture.

Florida Water is not just an aromatic mixture, it is a link to the history and spirituality of many cultures. Its versatility and unique aroma make it a prized element in spiritual and traditional practices around the world. Preparing it at home not only allows you to personalize it according to tastes and needs, but also keeps the connection with your ancestral roots alive. Thus, Florida Water continues to be a tangible manifestation of the rich cultural and spiritual heritage that endures through time.
