Agreement between Bayern and Sommer

Bayern Munich seems to have found a goalkeeper. The Bavarian team was forced to go to the winter transfer market after Manuel Neuer, captain and starting goalkeeper at the Allianz Arena, suffered a tibial fracture while skiing that will make him out for the rest of the season. After seeing that Alexander Nübel, Bayern’s goalkeeper on loan to Monaco until the end of the course, is not interested in ending his time in France early, everything indicates that it will be Yann Sommer the one chosen to fill the void left by Neuer.

As the Swiss newspaper Blick reported and the Sky television channel was able to confirm, the Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper would have already reached a verbal agreement with Bayern. Always according to Sky, Sommer only contemplates the option of the six-time European champion when it comes to leaving Gladbach half a year before his contract expires, agreed until the summer of 2023. If there is an agreement between clubs, Sommer would sign a contract until 2025 in the Bavarian capital.

It remains to be seen what will happen once Neuer is recovered and, now 37 years old, resubmits his candidacy to occupy the Munich framework. Be that as it may, in the Allianz offices they did not want to face the rest of the season with substitute goalkeeper Sven Ulreich under sticks and, after seeing that Nübel’s early return was complicated, they opted for Sommer as their first option. The Gladbach goalkeeper has already conveyed to his club his desire to go to Munich and Bayern want to have him on board the plane when Julian Nagelsmann’s men leave next Friday for Qatar for their already traditional winter stage. He urges reaching an agreement with Gladbach so that Sommer becomes a brand new Bavarian signing.
