Agrarian Institute delivers more than 22 million pesos to producers of Hato Mayor affected by Fiona

The general director of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), Francisco Guillermo García, delivered this Thursday checks for an amount of RD$22,889,000 to 726 producers in the province of Hato Mayor.

These farmers were severely affected by the passage of Hurricane Fiona by the Eastern region of the national territory and are established in settlements of the Agrarian Reform in this city.

With the purpose of promoting the development of the country’s agricultural sector, the official made the delivery to the affected farmers, describing the recovery of the devastated areas as a “priority” of the State.

The beneficiary producers belong to the IAD settlements in the sections of Caño Hondo, Las Cejas, El Manchado, Loma Larga, Peñita, Los Yuberes, Cañita, Tuningo and Los Guayosamong other.

“We have come to this province of Hato Mayor to fulfill a commitment made by President Abinader, who since the hurricane struck, made a tour of the area and announced that he would deliver the necessary resources so that you can recover from the damage suffered by your crops. Garcia said.

On her side, the provincial governor Julia Mery Vásquez said she was proud that the State “did not leave small farmers to their fate”, but rather, has come to their aid.
