Agde: a 77-year-old woman found beheaded at her home, an investigation has been opened

On the evening of Wednesday, October 13, a 77-year-old woman was found dead, beheaded, at her home in Agde (Hérault). An investigation for “murder” was opened by the prosecutor’s office in Béziers.

His son had alerted the police, worried not to hear from his mother, who was not answering the phone. A retired teacher, she had been living alone in her house since the death of her husband.

It was the firefighters who discovered in the evening the lifeless body of the septuagenarian, then joined by police officers from the Agde police station and the municipal police, said in a statement the public prosecutor, Raphaël Balland.

The victim was beheaded. According to a source close to the file, the head was resting on the living room table. The home of the septuagenarian had not been broken into.

During the night, the prosecutor went to the scene while the technical and scientific police and a forensic doctor were carrying out the first investigations.

The territorial directorate of the Montpellier judicial police was seized of the investigation and significant resources were deployed to find the perpetrator (s). No lead is favored by the investigators at this stage. Informed of the case, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) “has not claimed jurisdiction so far,” said the prosecutor’s statement.

The victim was not known to the judicial authorities. An autopsy was to be performed this Thursday afternoon.

In a statement, the public prosecutor of Béziers assured that “significant means are implemented by the DTPJ of Montpellier to try to identify and challenge the perpetrator (s)”
