After the loss to CSK, Pant got the support of Ponting, surrounded by criticism, this thing worked out in favor

Questions are now being raised about the decisions made by Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant on the pitch. After the 91-run loss to Chennai Super Kings, some former cricketers including Virender Sehwag have called some of Pant’s decisions wrong. Yet despite all this, Rishabh Pant has the full support of his head coach Ricky Ponting.

Under Pant’s captaincy, the Delhi team has lost 5 of its 11 matches. Virender Sehwag recently raised questions about Pant’s switch in bowling and player selection under pressure. But Ponting says he fully supports Pant’s decisions.

In the post-match press conference from Chennai, Ponting says: ‘I fully support all of Pant’s decisions made on the pitch. I have captained T20 matches before. I know you don’t have much time to think. It’s very easy to judge from the outside, but be honest when you’re on the pitch, it’s not easy at all.

Says Ponting: ‘A captain has to make decisions in a very short time on the pitch and the decision he makes is the best decision given the situation in the game at that moment. He deals with the size of the limits. Care must also be taken with which batsman is present in the crease.

However, Ponting admits that in the match against Chennai, his team was a failure in every aspect. Says Ponting: ‘Our bowling game was poor. Similarly, the batting was also bad. There was nothing positive for us in this game. Yeah, Khaleel Ahmed’s bowling has definitely been a positive for us. He bowled brilliantly. Ponting also says that Delhi Capitals will do their best to make it to the playoffs by winning the remaining three matches.
