The ODI World Cup is over and with the end of the World Cup, the tenure of Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid also ended. While there is an option for Dravid to extend his tenure, sources said Dravid wants to stop traveling too much and wants to spend some time with his family. For this reason, he does not want to extend his tenure with Team India.
However, now a recent report has come out that Dravid can join any IPL team. According to sources in Times of India, Rahul Dravid is in talks with an IPL team for a big two-year contract. If this news is true, Dravid will be seen in IPL again in the next IPL season. Rahul Dravid’s coaching stint with the Indian cricket team was wonderful. He joined the team after the 2021 T20 World Cup and remained with the team for the next two years. Under his captaincy, the Indian cricket team reached the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Furthermore, under Dravid’s leadership, Team India also reached the final of the ICC Test Championship 2021-23, where they lost to Australia.
Apart from these two major achievements, Rahul Dravid under his coach also led Team India to the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 but could not survive the final stage. Dravid’s coaching stint ended with the final match of the 2016 Indian Premier League and now he is not interested in taking over as coach of Team India as he does not want to travel too much. Now there are reports that Rahul Dravid is in talks with the IPL team. However, no official information has been released yet but if Dravid is in talks with an IPL team, then which team could it be?
Currently, Delhi Capitals do not have a head coach as their head coach Ricky Ponting has resigned from his post. Furthermore, the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals team Kumar Sangakkara has also left them. Furthermore, Rajasthan’s bowling coach Lasith Malinga has now also joined Mumbai Indians. Therefore, there is a possibility of Dravid holding talks with either of these two teams. However, Dravid has spent a lot of time with Rajasthan Royals and was also captain of that IPL team. In such a situation, it is possible that Rahul Dravid will become the new head coach of Rajasthan Royals.
