After the Spaniards and the Chinese, it is the turn of the Americans to call on the know-how of Puy du Fou. The historically themed French amusement park, located in Les Epesses (Vendée), will support the creation of a show in the United States “inspired by the history of the Cherokee people”, announced the leisure complex on Friday. “We are going to put our know-how at the service of a spectacular, grandiose staging, which celebrates the painful and glorious history of the Cherokee people,” Nicolas de Villiers, president of Puy du Fou, told AFP.
Scheduled for 2024, the show will be staged in the state of Tennessee, cradle of the Cherokees, within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The collaboration was initiated by Cherokee representatives, who are making an investment of “several tens of millions of dollars”, specifies Nicolas de Villiers. The dialogue had opened “a little over a year ago” and resulted in the signing of an agreement on Thursday. The show will stage “the story of the Cherokees who, in 1917, voluntarily entered the First World War, as a cry of love to America”, detailed Mr. de Villiers. Spectators will follow, through an immersive performance, the journey of a young Cherokee man, from the American Appalachians to the battlefields of Champagne in France.
