After 6 hours of blackout, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are working again

After more than six hours of blackout, the social networks Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger were working again this Tuesday morning.

The networks slowly resumed service shortly after midnight French time.

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger had been inaccessible since around 5:45 p.m. This failure affected the various applications of these social networks: it was impossible to reload the news feed on Instagram or Facebook, nor to receive or send messages via Messenger and What’sApp.

Andy Stone, one of the spokespersons for the Facebook group said on Twitter in the evening: “We are aware that some people are having difficulty accessing our applications and products. We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience. ”

After the return to normal, Facebook said in a statement that the outage was caused by a “faulty configuration change” of its servers.

This incident should have serious consequences for the group. After only three hours of blackout, the price had already fallen on Wall Street by nearly 6%.
