African leaders have called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. Besides, they called to return to the ‘Black Sea Grain Agreement’.

The leaders made the call on the last day of the two-day Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, Russia on Friday.

At the same time, the Russian president assured African leaders to “carefully consider” the peace proposal. African countries have made this call mainly considering the effect of the increase in the price of food products as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Musa Faki Mohammed, chairman of the African Union Commission, said this war must end. Only on the basis of justice and rationality can this war end. Obstacles in fuel and grain supply must be removed immediately. The CFP must be extended for the benefit of all peoples of the world, especially the people of Africa.

Earlier, African leaders made several proposals to end the war in Ukraine. Despite the chilly response to their peace proposal last month. Putin said yesterday that Moscow respects the proposal and will carefully consider the matter.

Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso said, ‘Africa’s peace initiative deserves maximum attention. This should not be underestimated. We once again call for the restoration of peace in Europe as a matter of urgency.’

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed optimism that the conflict could end through constructive dialogue.
