Afghanistan: Hebatullah Akhunzada is expected to head the new Taliban cabinet

The new cabinet will be announced tomorrow (Friday) after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan is completed.

Supreme Leader Hebatullah Akhunzada will head the new Afghan government, while the cabinet will be announced after Friday prayers on September 3, Taliban official Ahmadullah Muttaqi said. “The Islamic government we will announce in Afghanistan will be a model for the people,” he said.

According to Afghan media, Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai, the head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, has been nominated as the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Earlier in the day, Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai had said in an interview that the announcement of the new government would be completed in two days while new faces would be included in our government.

On the other hand, the Afghan Taliban spokesman said that the new Afghan Islamic Emirate is expected to be announced on Friday in which the names of important leaders including the cabinet will be revealed.

The expected names of the Taliban cabinet came to light

After the Afghan Taliban’s leadership shura meeting, Mullah Baradar has reached Kabul from Kandahar and is likely to be given the responsibility of the chairman of the shura.

Mullah Yaqub is likely to be made defense minister and Sirajuddin Haqqani interior minister, both of whom are currently deputy to Taliban leader Mullah Habibullah.

It may be recalled that it has been decided to give the portfolio of Foreign Ministry to Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the head of the Taliban Invitation and Guidance Commission, while the current Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid is likely to be made the Information Minister of the interim government.
