According to Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the visit of Acting Afghan Foreign Minister is a continuation of Pakistan’s political engagement process with Afghanistan, which includes the visit of Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs to Kabul on November 29, 2022 and the visit of a high-level delegation. .

The spokesman said that Pakistan’s Defense Minister visited Kabul on February 22. During the visit of Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, the parties will review all areas of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the fields of political, economic, trade, communication, peace and security and education.

The statement said that Pakistan seeks a peaceful, prosperous, stable and integrated Afghanistan and reiterates its commitment to continue continuous and practical engagement with the Transitional Afghan Government.

It should be noted that Afghanistan’s Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi had previously visited Islamabad for the first time in November 2021.

Pakistan had hoped that after the Taliban came to power, the border issues between the two countries would improve and the issue of terrorist sanctuaries would be resolved, but contrary to expectations, attacks organized by the outlawed TTP increased. In February, a high-powered delegation led by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and comprising DGISI and other senior officials visited Kabul and issued a stern warning to the Afghan Taliban to deal with the threat of the outlawed TTP.

Pakistan confronted the Taliban government with evidence of the TTP’s presence and whereabouts. Afghan intelligence officials traveled to Islamabad to address the issue after a visit by a Pakistani delegation.
