A New Chapter for Adriana Cerezo
Adriana Cerezo, the Olympic silver medalist in taekwondo, has already turned the page on her Paris 2024 experience. With a broad smile, she welcomes us to the Hankuk taekwondo club in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid, where she has trained since she was 11 years old. This club has been a talent factory, producing not only Adriana but also other notable athletes like Viviana Marton, the Olympic champion, and Laura Rodríguez, the U21 continental champion.
Adriana’s focus is now on the future, with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics in her sights. She has not yet watched the match where she was eliminated but plans to do so. “When I received the first point, I entered like a blockade and was no longer able to see a way to score, to find solutions,” she recalls. Despite the setback, Adriana is optimistic, seeing the experience as an opportunity to build from scratch and learn from her mistakes.
Adriana’s journey is not just about her sport; she is also combining her taekwondo career with her studies in Criminalistics. Her next goal is to become a world champion, and she hopes to achieve this at the World Cup in October. With her determination and enthusiasm, Adriana is sure to come back stronger than ever.
When you are able to overcome those moments and come back, you come back even stronger.
Suvi Mikkonen, president and coach of Hankuk, believes that Adriana’s experience will make her even stronger. “When you are able to overcome those moments and come back, you come back even stronger. Adriana is doing everything in her power. She is the same as always, she continues to come every day to give her 100%, she continues to have the same enthusiasm, the desire, the motivation.” With Adriana’s determination and the support of her team, she is sure to achieve her goals and make a difference in the world of taekwondo.
