Amid Pathan’s stupendous success, Bollywood king Shahrukh Khan narrated an anecdote related to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). He revealed that at that time the filmmaker Aditya Chopra had asked him to work on an action movie, but he told the story of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Now Shahrukh thanked Aditya Chopra and said that he fulfilled his promise of 30 years by doing Pathan.
Shahrukh Khan said in his latest statement: “It’s about that period, when we were shooting the movie Darr. Pam Aunty, Aditya, Juhi were all with us. We used to play Scrabble at night. Out of the whole unit, I was the most close to Aditya, because we are similar in terms of age and understanding. One day when it was Aditya’s birthday, he said that he wanted to make a movie. I replied that I will work in that movie as well. Aditya said that I will play the role of an action hero in the film. At that time I was very excited about the film Darr.
Shahrukh said that after three or four years, Aditya called me. He said we talked about the action movie. He also wanted to do an action movie because no one had offered me such a movie until then. I wanted to make a movie like that myself, where I have the best body and even after being drenched in blood, I have a gun in my hand and a girl with me. Aditya took me to the Mehboob studio and narrated the story of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Shahrukh further said: ‘I asked where the action is in this. I spoke with Yashji. Did he tell you what happened to Aditya? He had brought me to narrate the story of the action movie. On this, Aditya said that we will do it later, but after DDLJ, we did Dil To Pagal Hai. We’re still making movies all the time, but we’re not working on an action movie.
According to Shahrukh, ‘Aditya called me again four years ago. Siddharth was also present there. Aditya said that he will work in an action movie, so I told my manager Pooja Dadlani that he was lying. He won’t do an action movie. But I am grateful to Aditya because he has fulfilled his promise of 30 years.
