English spinner Adil Rashid will sit out the T20 and ODI series against India in July. During this, he will be on the Hajj pilgrimage with his wife (Hajj pilgrimage). He had asked for a break from the England Cricket Board and his Yorkshire county club, which he got. He will depart for the series against India as well as Yorkshire’s T20 Blast campaign, leaving her on a religious journey.
Speaking to Cricinfo, Rashid says: ‘I had wanted to do this for a long time, but due to the weather it was getting very difficult. This year I realized that I have to do it now and that’s what I want to do. I spoke to the England and Yorkshire Cricket Board for this. He understood this and I was moved. I got the answer that you should do what you want to do and come back when you can.
Rashid said: ‘My wife and I are going there. We will stay there for a few weeks. This is a great moment. Each religion has its different beliefs, but in Islam and being a Muslim, it is one of the most important religions. This is a big problem for me and for my faith. I knew that as long as I’m young, strong and healthy, this is what I have to do. This is something that I had really committed to doing in any case.
