The shoe war is an open debate in athletics and the brands themselves do not hesitate to allocate all their resources, economic and human, to take the battles. A duel that also needs the loudspeaker and the repercussion that the results provide. Therefore, Adidas has gone one step further and this next Sunday (September 12) has organized a competition in Herzogenaurach (Germany), world headquarters of the tri-band brand, with the firm purpose of breaking the records in 5K, 10K and half marathon, both in male and female category.
Adidas will wear its best athletes, the only ones who can participate and that will be around 80, including Rosemary Wanjiru, Muktar Edris, Yomif Kejelcha, Sheila Chepkirui, Semberi Teferi, Agnes Jebet Tirop, Kalkidan Gezahegne, Birhanu Balew, Rhonex Kipruto, Tadese Worku, Brillian Kipkoech, Netsanet Gudeta or Abel Kipchumba; and has built a 2.5 kilometer loop on the firm’s headquarters campus for the private event (‘Adizero: Road to Records’) starting at 7:00 am (streamed on the Adidas Running channel).
Current 5K distance records belong to Joshua Cheptegei (12:51) and Beatrice Chepkoech (14:43); in the 10K to Rhonex Kipruto (26:24) and Joyciline Jepkosgei (29:43); and in the half marathon to Kibiwott Kandie (57:32), Yalemzerf Yehualaw (1h: 03: 44 in mixed race) and Peres Jepchirchir (1h: 05: 16, women only).
