Adidas sets foot in the crypto world with a digital sneaker collection

Adidas, the superpower of sportswear, is no stranger to the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). At the end of 2021, it joined forces with Bored Ape Yacht Club, among others, and introduced its own NFT collection called ‘Into The Metaverse’. In April of this year, as part of this metaverse project, it launched its ‘ALTS’ NFTs. Now it has teamed up with prominent NFT artist FEWOCiOUS to release a brand new NFT collection tied to real life sneakers.

According to the website from its launch, the so-called Adidas Originals x FEWOCiOUS collection is a ”harmonistic clash of perspectives” that includes both physical and digital products.

As of June 22, 4,500 Trefoil Flower Mint Passes will be available to mint on OpenSea. The eventual owners of this will have the exclusive opportunity ”later in the summer” to exchange it for the physically created Adidas Originals Campus 00 sneaker. In addition, the Trefoil Flower Mint Pass will be upgraded to a digital twin in the form of an NFT. The physical pair will be connected to the corresponding NFT by means of an NFC chip.

The process of minting the Trefoil Flower Mint Pass is divided into one pre-sale with three levels, followed by a public mint. The different levels are determined by owning specific NFTs from previous Adidas and FEWOCiOUS launches. As the owner of a BAYC, Doodles or Rug radio NFT you can also participate in the pre-sale.

The price of the pre-sale is 0.2 ethereum (ETH) or 0.25 ETH, depending on the tier. At the current ethereum price, the price is therefore $ 350 or $ 435 respectively. The level also determines when you get the chance to mint a Mint Pass.

Shortly after the third tier gains access, the public sale will begin at a price of 0.25 ETH.

Adidas and Web3

With the new launch, Adidas is once again expanding its portfolio of NFTs. September 2021 was the very first moment the German multinational came into contact with the NFT world by acquiring Bored Ape #8774, which is now known as Indigo Herz.

Since then, Adidas has been gaining ground in Web3 through various NFT initiatives that improve overall customer engagement.
