Adidas enters the Metaverse after various collaborations

Adidas has now also entered the Metaverse world. This after the sports brand entered into partnerships with the NFT brand ‘Bored Ape Yacht Club’ and the comic series ‘Punks Comic’.

Adidas step does not go unnoticed

The sports brand has also started a partnership with crypto investor ‘Gmoney’. The company announced this via a Tweet on Twitter. Here they say the following:

“Today we jump into The Metaverse with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gmoney & Punks Comic. It’s time to enter a world of limitless possibilities.”

The Tweet has already gained more than 14,400 likes and has been retweeted more than 5,200 times, indicating that Adidas’ move has not gone unnoticed. The tweet, in turn, leads to a web portal called “Adidas Metaverse,” which states the following:

“It’s happening. Gmoney, Punks Comic and the Bored Ape Yacht Club lead Adidas to the Metaverse. Let’s go.”

Adidas wallet contains over €177,000 worth of NFTs

In addition, the Adidas wallet has also grown considerably. This wallet now contains more than €177,000 ($200,000) worth of NFTs. For example, the clothing brand bought the Bored Ape Yach Club #8,774 for 46 Ethereum (ETH), or approximately €138,000 ($156,000). The company also recently updated its Twitter profile picture with a BAYC image. In the recent Adidas tweet, the company has the BAYC wear a yellow Adidas jacket with the classic three-stripe design.

The address initially purchased by the BAYC now contains 13 different NFTs from 11 unique collections, according to data from dappradar.com. If Adidas owns the wallet, which is expected, it also owns Punks Comic: “The Hunt for the Lost Robbies”, which was bought for 6.95 Ethereum. The Punks Comic and the recently purchased BAYC #8774 are the most expensive NFTs in the wallet. The other NFTs containing BAYC #8,774 have bottoms of €15 ($17) to approximately €485 ($549) per NFT.

Nike, the company’s main competitor, revealed this month that it is also targeting the Metaverse. This is how Nike published a blog post about ‘Nikeland’ on their website, explaining that it has settled in the virtual world Roblox. Nikeland on Roblox aims to be “a place where competition and creativity abound for all.” It is currently unknown what the next steps within the Metaverse of the sports company will be.
