Adele asked and Spotify changed the play button.

Spotify is the most popular music streaming service in the world. But that does not mean that he does not give in to a request from an artist as important as Adele. Even if this leads to a change in functionality that was previously standard.

On all album playback pages on Spotify, the default was the “shuffle” button, with the album in random order. But within a week when Adele’s album ’30’ was released, a request from the singer led to the standard change to the album’s playback order.

Albums are played in ‘normal’ order on Spotify after Adele’s request

On Twitter, the singer explains the reason for the request. “This was the only order I made in our ever-changing industry! We don’t create albums with such care and consideration on the tracklist for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories must be heard as we intend. Thanks for listening to me Spotify ”, says the singer.

This was the only request I had in our ever-changing industry! We don’t create albums with such care and thought on our song list for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories must be heard as we intend. Thanks Spotify for listening 🍷 ♥ ️ https://t.co/XWlykhqxAy

The singer placed the order for her album and Spotify listened, changing the pattern for everyone. But that doesn’t mean you can’t keep listening to random albums. You just need to change that option manually.

The move divided Internet users. Some think that Spotify should not have given in to the singer’s request, while others agree and claim that this should already be the standard way to play albums.

I personally reproduce the albums in sync with the order given by the artist. They usually tell a story, and that’s how I like to listen to them. But for those who don’t believe it, the “shuffle” button is still there.
