The buzz around Smriti Irani’s return to the small screen has been loud, but not all of it is about her acting. She recently returned as Tulsi Virani in a reboot of the beloved show, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.” This comeback stirred up old memories for many fans. Yet, a curious rumor began making the rounds. Reports claimed that Irani was shooting her scenes with Z+ security trailing her every move. Well, she’s finally spoken out about these wild stories.
Irani had a good laugh when she heard these claims. She shared her thoughts on a Mashable India show, smiling as she recalled the headlines. “When I read that I arrive on set with Z+ security, I just had to laugh,” she admitted. “There’s nothing like that happening. These reports genuinely surprised me.” It seems the tales of tight security and special treatment were all made up.
Setting the Record Straight
Media outlets had painted quite a picture of Irani’s set. They suggested that during filming for “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2,” all mobile phones were switched off. Only Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay, and Ekta Kapoor were supposedly allowed to use their devices. The whispers also spoke of a large team of security guards constantly by Irani’s side. However, the actress-turned-politician has firmly shot down every single one of these claims.
Irani even shared a funny memory to prove her point. She joked that she never needed any special treatment on set. She remembered one time when the Mashable team visited for a shoot. “Suddenly, a guy showed up with an umbrella and followed me around,” she recounted. “I was shocked! I even asked, ‘What’s going on? This has never happened before!'” She guessed the production team might have wanted to create a “grand” atmosphere for the visitors.
Still the Same Tulsi
Smriti Irani made it clear that she is very professional about her work. She would never want to cause any trouble or inconvenience for anyone on set. With a warm smile, she added, “I’m still the same old Tulsi, but time has made me a little stronger.” It’s a nice way of saying that while her life has changed, her core values remain.
The iconic show made its grand return to Star Plus on July 29, 2025, after a 17-year break. This version is a limited series, with plans for 150 episodes. Alongside Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay, the show features a new generation of characters. These roles are played by talented actors like Rohit Suchanti, Tanisha Mehta, Shagun Sharma, and Aman Gandhi.
