Actress Gehna Vashisht Defends Controversial OTT Show House Arrest Amidst Backlash

Actor Eijaz Khan’s reality show “House Arrest” is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. A viral clip from the show has sparked outrage, with Eijaz seen asking contestants to perform intimate scenes on camera. The backlash has been fierce, with many calling for the show to be banned.

Backlash and Demands for Action

The controversy has drawn the attention of the National Commission for Women (NCW), which has issued a summons to Eijaz Khan and Ullu App’s CEO, Vipul Agrawal. The commission is investigating the allegations of promoting obscenity through the show.

Gehana Vashisht Speaks Out

Gehana Vashisht, a contestant on the show, has come to Eijaz’s defense. She took to social media to share her thoughts on the matter, questioning why the focus is on the show’s creators when people consume obscene content without consequence. Gehana pointed out the double standard, citing examples of other Indian actors like Priyanka Chopra and Radhika Apte who have performed bold scenes in their careers.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Gehana said, “When Priyanka Chopra does intimate scenes in Hollywood or Radhika Apte appears topless in ‘Sacred Games,’ or when Mandakini did bold scenes years ago, didn’t you think it was spreading obscenity in society?”

Consent is Key

Gehana also emphasized that everything done on the show was consensual. “All participants are comfortable, above 18, and are participating voluntarily. So, where does Eijaz Khan come into the picture? We’re the ones performing the activities. No one’s forcing us,” she stated.

The debate surrounding “House Arrest” raises important questions about content regulation on OTT platforms and the responsibility of both creators and consumers. As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the situation will be addressed by authorities and the public.
