A public dispute has erupted on social media between actor Ranvir Shorey and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee over the upcoming film ‘Dhurandhar’. The debate began following Rathee’s critical comments on the film’s trailer. Both personalities have engaged in a heated exchange online.
Rathee initiated the controversy by posting on X (formerly Twitter). He stated that the trailer for Aditya Dhar’s film, depicting extreme violence and bloodshed, highlights a decline in sensitivity within mainstream cinema. Rathee controversially compared the film’s content to “ISIS beheadings” when considered as entertainment.
Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it “entertainment”. His lust for money is so unhinged that he is willingly…— Dhruv Rathee (@dhruv_rathee) November 18, 2025
Actor Ranvir Shorey quickly responded to Rathee’s critique. Shorey remarked that Rathee is often incorrect, but has notably built a career out of his mistakes.
The online altercation continued as Rathee retaliated. He shared a screenshot of Shorey’s ‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’ thumbnail. Rathee claimed that at least his own career is not founded on “fake fights.”
Shorey fired back, asserting that even the arguments on ‘Bigg Boss’ are not as artificial as Rathee’s “fake image.” The extensive back-and-forth between the two garnered significant attention across social media platforms.

During the discussion, a user reminded Rathee of his past comments. Rathee had previously called ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ a “necessary film” for Indian cinema. Rathee acknowledged this, admitting he did not fully understand the impact of such films at that time.
The heated exchange divided social media users. Some sided with Rathee, praising his willingness to acknowledge past errors. Others supported Shorey, arguing that Rathee should not mock an actor’s professional efforts on a public platform. A number of users also humorously suggested that tweeting about Dhruv Rathee might be Shorey’s most notable moment in years.
‘Dhurandhar’ is directed by Aditya Dhar and features a large ensemble cast, including Ranvir Singh, Arjun Rampal, Akshay Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt. The film is scheduled for release on December 5. The trailer’s debut has already sparked considerable discussion online.
