Juan Soler, the popular Argentine actor, faced an unexpected exit from the fourth season of ‘Top Chef VIP’. Soler, a favorite to win the reality cooking competition, withdrew from the show in its final episodes.
His departure was due to extreme exhaustion, medically termed “burnout.” This health incident led to an emergency hospitalization for the 59-year-old actor.
Weeks after the event, Soler provided an update. He explained on the program ‘Sale el Sol’ that burnout is “extreme exhaustion, accompanied by poor self-care.”
Rumors had circulated that Soler suffered a pre-heart attack. He addressed these claims directly with the press.
Soler confirmed he did go to the hospital. He stated doctors found “a small discrepancy in the renal part,” which was promptly treated.
He clarified that there was “nothing to do with clogged arteries or pre-heart attacks.” Doctors advised his withdrawal, noting the situation “could have gotten worse.”
The actor emphasized his decision to leave. “I resigned, I withdrew,” he stated.
Soler added, “I had a great chance to reach the final, to win, but… what good is that money to pay doctors? It’s not right, health comes first and nothing justifies sacrifices against your health.”
More recently, Soler offered further details on Telemundo’s ‘La Mesa Caliente’. He specified a “very deep, very strong dehydration” as the root cause.
This dehydration damaged his renal system, severely compromising his kidneys. His hepatic system, or liver, was also affected due to blood thickening.
He described his condition as “a whole series of consequences.” Soler assured fans he is now “perfect.”
His recovery involved “good serums and much love and affection from Paulina,” his partner. He also noted that a fall during a ‘Top Chef VIP’ challenge was unrelated to his health issues.
Soler had previously been heard saying “I feel old” during an episode of the show.
Days after announcing his withdrawal, Soler posted on social media about a trip to Europe with Paulina Mercado. He shared updates on his Instagram, including his journey to Portugal and seeking travel suggestions.
The actor appeared in good spirits, showing his characteristic leading-man smile. He captioned a video with “dream trip,” signaling his full recovery and renewed focus on well-being.
