The air buzzed with excitement this Saturday, August 16, 2025. Krishna Janmashtami celebrations were in full swing. One of the biggest highlights was the Dahi Handi event. In Mumbai, the energy was especially high. Superstar actor Govinda even joined the festivities.
The Dahi Handi tradition is a core part of Janmashtami. Teams of “Govindas” form human pyramids. They aim to break pots filled with curd, hung high up. Mumbai always sees this tradition celebrated with great enthusiasm. This year, actor Govinda was right there in the middle of it all. He looked completely lost in devotion to Krishna. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was also present. Actor Sharad Kelkar joined in the fun too.

Govinda was clearly enjoying the Dahi Handi celebration. The event took place in Thane, Mumbai. It was put together by the Tembi Naka Mitra Mandal. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde and actor Sharad Kelkar were also there. They wished everyone a happy festival. Govinda even showed off some dance moves.

Govinda brought his signature flair to the Dahi Handi event. He cheered on the Govindas with great spirit. He also danced to his famous song ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’. The actor looked very much in a devotional mood. He even held a flute on stage, like Lord Krishna.

Deputy Chief Minister Shinde welcomed both Govinda and Sharad Kelkar to the stage. He spoke in Marathi. He urged the crowd to cheer for both actors. The film world was also buzzing with Janmashtami festivities. Everyone was celebrating the festival in their own way. Many stars sent their wishes to fans on social media too.

Beyond the lively Dahi Handi celebrations, Govinda also made time for quiet devotion. He visited the ISKCON Temple for Janmashtami. There, he performed prayers and sought blessings from the deity.
