Manoj Bharathiraja, the 48-year-old son of renowned Tamil film director Bharathiraja, passed away on Tuesday in Chennai due to a cardiac arrest. The news was shared by the Nadigar Sangam, a union of actors, on social media platform X. Reports indicate that Manoj had undergone bypass surgery just days prior to his death. He is survived by his wife, Ashwathi, also known as Nandana, and their two daughters, Arshita and Mathivathani.
Manoj made his debut as an actor in his father’s film “Taj Mahal,” followed by roles in “Eera Nilam” and “Varushamellam Vasantham.” He also appeared in recent films like “Manaadu” with Venkat Prabhu and Simbu, and “Viruman” starring Karthi. His most recent project was the Prime Video series “Snake and Ladders.”

In addition to acting, Manoj Bharathiraja also ventured into direction and singing. He sang “Ichchi Elumichi” in “Taj Mahal,” composed by AR Rahman.
