The ACB has ruled in favor of Valencia Basket, dismissing a protest filed by The Tenerife Lagoon regarding the alleged improper alignment of Amida Brimah. The Single ACB Competition Judge found that Brimah’s lineup was within the regulations, and therefore, no penalty will be imposed on Valencia Basket.
Background of the Controversy
The controversy arose from a match between Valencia Basket and The Tenerife Lagoon, which was postponed due to floods caused by DANA. Valencia Basket won the match 96-81, with Brimah scoring 12 points in 18 minutes. However, The Tenerife Lagoon protested the result, claiming that Brimah had played for two different teams on the same day.
ACB’s Decision
The Single ACB Competition Judge considered it proven that Brimah had been authorized and validated by the ACB to play the match against The Tenerife Lagoon. After analyzing the allegations of all parties, the Judge found that there was no improper alignment, as the facts did not meet the assumptions of article 43.f of the FEB Disciplinary Regulations.
The Tenerife Lagoon to Appeal
Following the announcement of the dismissal of the case, The Tenerife Lagoon has announced that it will appeal the decision. The team believes that the resolution violates and disrupts the normal development of the competition and will proceed to appeal the decision before the necessary authorities.
