When summarizing the infrastructure works carried out during his administration, President Luis Abinader returned to the promise to build the Amber Highway, announced in his first speech before the National Congress in 2020 and also said that the Navarrete beltway will begin in the first half of this year, after a year and a half of design and bidding.
The mandatary reported that already construction designs and economic feasibility studies are ready and that in the next 45 days the General Directorate of Public-Private Alliances will launch the tender through an innovative financial scheme.
"Unlike the Samaná highway in the past, in this case it will not have a shadow toll" Abinader assured before the National Assembly and said that upon reaching the government this project did not have engineering or economic designs and it was just a dream for Santiago and Puerto Plata.
The ruler stated that they are investing throughout the national territory and that in 2022, 271 infrastructure works were executed with an investment of more than RD$90,390 million and that this year they will continue to build 1,581 more works.
Among the main road infrastructure works inaugurated, Abinader cited:The Azua Ring Road, the elevated and marginal Las Américas, in Andrés Boca Chica, Avenida Ecológica, up to Avenida Juan Pablo II and its distributor, Stage I, the Sabaneta-Martin García highway, the Joaquín Balaguer highway completely rehabilitated from Santiago to Navarrete, the section IV in the Circunvalación Sur de Santiago, the Guazumal-Hermanas Mirabal – Tamboril highway, the Higo de Agua-Palo Alto highway, the Palo Verde – La 70 highway, among others.
It also noted the completion of the construction of the Bajabonico and Unijica bridges, the construction of the Las Canas Bridge, the reconstruction of the Cruce Duarte-Castañuela Highway, the construction of the Cruce El Jamo-Sabaneta Highway, the repair of the metal bridge over the Higuamo River on the Hato Mayor-Yerba Buena Highway and, in addition, indicated that they have invested almost RD$12,000 million for the construction of sidewalks and contain nationally.

Abinader pointed out that from February 2022 to February 2023, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications worked in 1,962 sectors and neighborhoods in the 31 provinces and the National District. covering an area of more than 15 million meters, with an investment of more than RD$14,000 million.
He said that 24 construction projects are underway that add up to 364 km of local roads that will be completed this year, promoting agroforestry development and assured that the road transformation process in the Dominican Republic will continue in 2023 with the conclusion of far-reaching infrastructures such as : the Circunvalación de San Francisco de Macorís avenue, the expansion of the San Isidro highway, the Barahona-Enriquillo highway, the reconstruction of the Bayaguana-El Puerto highway, the completion of the Monte Plata-Chirino highway, the Hato Mayor highway -Sabana de La Mar, the construction of Avenida Hípica, the construction of the Km 9 Solution of the Duarte Highway and the reconstruction of the Samaná-Las Galeras highway
