Kolkata Knight Riders have welcomed back Abhishek Nayar, making his return to the team ahead of IPL 2025. The news came via a social media post on Saturday evening. In their post, KKR shared a photo of Nayar and captioned it “Welcome home Abhishek Nayar.” Nayar was part of KKR from 2018 to 2024, serving as an assistant coach during their 2024 IPL title win, a campaign where his contributions were highly praised.
Nayar’s Recent Journey
After leaving KKR in 2024, Nayar joined Team India, focusing on the batting skills of several players, including KL Rahul and Varun Chakravarthy, both of whom have spoken highly of his work. However, Team India’s performances on tours to Australia and New Zealand were disappointing, leading to criticism of the entire team, including Gautam Gambhir’s coaching team.
KKR’s Current Standings
As of now, KKR has played 7 matches in IPL 2025, managing to win 3 and lose 4, placing them sixth on the points table with 6 points. Whether Nayar’s return will boost their performance remains to be seen.
