Abhimanyu Easwaran to Lead India A Team Against England Lions in First-Class Series

The Indian cricket board has announced the squad for India’s ‘A’ team tour to England, where they’ll face England Lions in two first-class matches starting May 30.

Abhimanyu Easwaran to Lead the Charge

Abhimanyu Easwaran, a 29-year-old seasoned cricketer, has been entrusted with the captaincy. Easwaran has been part of the Indian squad during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but hasn’t made his Test debut yet. He boasts an impressive first-class record, having scored 7,674 runs in 101 matches, including 27 centuries and 29 fifties.

Easwaran has been associated with the Indian team previously, too. He was among the five standby players for the home series against England in 2019. He was also on the standby list for the 2021 World Test Championship Final and the subsequent England tour.

The squad features a mix of experienced players and young talent. Notable names include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Shardul Thakur. Other players in the squad are:

Dhruv Jurel has been appointed vice-captain. Jurel has been in excellent form, and his appointment as vice-captain is a testament to his skills and leadership abilities. While Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah are part of the squad, they haven’t been considered for the captaincy.
