AB de Villiers Makes Big Announcement: Promises to Return for RCB if They Reach Finals

Royal Challengers Bangalore are on the brink of the playoffs under R. Patidar’s leadership, having restarted their campaign after the IPL 2025 suspension. The tournament resumed on May 17 with their match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Now, a big statement has come from AB de Villiers, a former RCB player.

The South African cricket legend spent 11 years with RCB, playing 156 matches and scoring 4,491 runs. He formed memorable partnerships with Virat Kohli and created several records. Despite his successful stint, he never won an IPL title and retired from the league in 2021.

AB de Villiers’ Promise to RCB

During an Instagram Live session, de Villiers said, “Mark my words, if RCB makes it to the final, I’ll be there in the stadium with the team. Nothing will make me prouder than lifting the trophy with them. I tried for years.”

A Legendary IPL Career

De Villiers played for two IPL teams. He scored 671 runs in 28 matches for Delhi Capitals and 4,491 runs in 156 matches for RCB. In his entire IPL career, he played 184 matches and scored 5,162 runs, including 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries. He’s also one of the top six-hitters in IPL history with 251 sixes.

De Villiers’ promise has sparked excitement among RCB fans, who are eagerly waiting to see their team lift the IPL trophy. With R. Patidar at the helm, RCB looks strong, and de Villiers’ presence in the final would be a special moment for the team and its fans.
