Welsh international footballer Aaron Ramsey has departed Mexican club Pumas after less than four months, citing the mysterious disappearance of his dog from a care facility as a key factor in his abrupt contract termination.
The 33-year-old midfielder’s exit was confirmed after his contract rescission was agreed and signed.
Sources close to the club, as reported by ESPN, indicated both a recent injury and the profound distress over his missing beagle, Halo, contributed to his decision.
Halo vanished after Ramsey left her at a dog hotel in San Miguel de Allende, a central Mexican city.
Ramsey publicly criticized the facility on social media, expressing frustration over the lack of explanation.
“Trying to understand how you can leave your dog at an animal care center and never see her again. With no explanation? The cameras didn’t record, no tracker found her, no sighting, no body, and a pile of lies,” Ramsey posted, formerly with Arsenal.
The footballer had offered a $20,000 reward for Halo’s safe return.
Despite appeals and the reward, search efforts proved unsuccessful.
Ramsey had joined Pumas as a high-profile signing less than four months ago.
